We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our team. The purpose of this role is to provide accounting support to the Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance and Education Services under direct supervision of the Senior Finance Officer and the Schools Estates and Finance Officer.
The Parish Support Team is made up of the staff and volunteers of a charity called the Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance Ltd (NDBF).The core purpose of the charity is to serve the local parish mission and ministry of Church of England churches, schools and chaplaincies across Norfolk and Waveney, collectively referred to as the Diocese of Norwich.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer the procedures for the payment of clergy remuneration and pension contributions, including the maintenance of the register of clergy and the related records.
- Maintain records of clergy sickness absence and report on same.
- Complete Gift Aid and GASDS claims for the Diocese, including related tax claims and records.
- Monitoring of receipts of parochial fees, reconciling returns and advising parishes on related queries.
- Provide support to PCC Treasurers in managing parish accounts, review PCC accounts and assist PCCs with year-end accounts preparation.
- Record and bank all income received.
- Maintain and develop school building financial reporting systems.
- Provide financial information to senior managers to assist in strategic decision making.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, tax, accounting standards and guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- AAT or equivalent accounting degree
- 3-5 years of experience in finance role, preferably within the education finance sector
- Able to communicate financial information accurately with a range of different people, both internally and externally
- Proficiency in financial software and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements
